Steve Gelinske is a licensed Texas private investigator, Private Investigations for the Missing (PIFTM) Board Member, and the founder of G3 Missing Persons — dedicated exclusively to finding the missing.
Steve Gelinske brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience to every case he works — including his service as a Chief Information Security Officer and leader of Enterprise Resilience & Disaster Recovery Operations for a large multinational corporation. He holds a BA in Criminal Justice and Political Science, and made a deliberate decision to leave the corporate world behind in favor of work that matters: finding people who are missing and supporting the families who need answers.
That transition wasn’t accidental. Steve could see how his skills — analytical rigor, systems thinking, crisis management, and deep experience with sensitive data and security — translated directly into investigative work. He became a licensed Private Investigator in Texas, based in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, and built G3 Missing Persons around a single, non-negotiable focus: missing persons cases only. He is also a licensed fixed-wing pilot and is currently expanding his field toolkit to include drone operations — to provide comprehensive aerial-based search capabilities.
Steve serves on the board of Private Investigations for the Missing (PIFTM), a non-profit dedicated exclusively to cold cases involving missing individuals. He is also an investigator and operations team member for the highly specialized NGO, AntipredatorProject.org. Steve is currently collaborating with multiple police detectives on cold cases and also with federal agents on active missing person cases with suspected ties to human trafficking. These affiliations and engagements reflect the depth of Steve’s commitment to this work and the seriousness with which he approaches every case.
G3 Missing Persons does one thing: finding the missing. Every database subscription, every field technique, every law enforcement relationship Steve has built exists for this single purpose. When a family is in crisis, they don’t need a generalist — they need someone who has walked this road before.
Steve’s focus extends to cases with possible ties to human trafficking — an area that demands specialized database access, a deep understanding of behavioral patterns, and close coordination with federal and local law enforcement. It’s not a category most PI firms take on. G3 does.
Every client reaches Steve directly — not a call center, not a case manager, not a receptionist. When you contact G3, you speak with him personally. Steve remains the single point of contact from the first conversation to the final report, and he will always be honest with you about where things stand, what’s been found, and what the realistic path forward looks like.
Steve understands what it means to be in a crisis — the uncertainty, the fear, the need for honest information even when it’s hard to hear. He is direct about what the evidence shows, realistic about the path forward, and committed to keeping families informed at every step. You will never be left wondering where things stand.
Steve’s work extends well beyond G3’s caseload. He is an active board member of a national non-profit and maintains a working partnership with one of the country’s leading missing persons search organizations — giving G3 clients access to resources most PI firms simply cannot match.
Private Investigations for the Missing is a non-profit founded by Bruce Maitland — whose daughter Brianna disappeared in 2004 — on a simple but powerful premise: most families who need a private investigator can’t afford one. PIFTM connects families of missing persons with licensed investigators who donate their time and expertise to cases that might otherwise go uninvestigated.
Steve serves as a board member and active investigator for PIFTM, handling cases within his jurisdiction and collaborating on cases outside it. It is both a professional commitment and a personal one.
Visit investigationsforthemissing.org →Search Investigations, led by Steve Fischer, is a national missing persons PI agency with 20+ years of specialized experience and SAR capabilities across all 50 states. Fischer’s team operates certified K9 units, licensed commercial drone pilots, and ground search teams — field capabilities that extend well beyond what database intelligence alone can accomplish.
G3’s partnership with Search Investigations means clients have access to physical search operations when a case requires them — intelligence-led investigation combined with field-proven search and rescue, working in concert.
Visit searchinvestigations.org →Steve’s involvement with PIFTM is not a side project or a marketing credential. It reflects the same conviction that drives G3’s existence: families in a missing persons crisis deserve access to the best investigative resources available, regardless of their financial situation.
For G3 clients, these partnerships translate directly into capability. When a case requires physical SAR operations, Search Investigations can mobilize. When additional investigative resources would help, the PIFTM network can contribute. It is a broader infrastructure built around a single mission — finding the missing.
